When I create my jewelry pieces to sell I have often sometimes been known to not want to sell the pieces. You spend a long time creating the piece...some artists like to call that "giving birth" to the piece and then when it comes to passing it along to someone else it kind of feels like they are taking a little piece of you away with them.
I made this cascading necklace and thought it turned out nice but I hadn't really bonded with it until after I tried it on with a few things.
You're probably thinking...well sell this one and just make another one. Funny thing is that I don't work like that. I only make something once. I hate repeating anything. It's a big turn off for me. It is boring and not creative at all.
So, as hard as it was I have put this baby up for adoption. I hope she goes to a loving home where they will take her out and show her off often. She is a bright young thing and deserves that.
So this is my last piece I'm previewing for my show tomorrow. A really bold statement necklace.
I will be at Jewels on the Credit starting tomorrow from 10-6 and then again on Sunday from 12/5. Location: 42 Port St. at the Port Credit Emporium. There will be 5 other great jewellers there with me and I'm excited to see their work. I hope to see you there!
Leading up to my last show of the year I'm posting more photos of my latest works. You can see this lime green blue and purple necklace at my Etsy shop.
This is the first time I've made this type of necklace. They take a very long time and requires lots of beads, headpins and patience. I need to style this with an outfit before I take it to the show.
I will be selling this and many other one-of-a-kind creations at Jewels on the Credit this weekend, 42 Port St. at the Port Credit Emporium Sat Dec 8th 10-6 and Sun Dec 9th 12-5 in Mississauga.
That purple rhinestone brooch in the upper right on this necklace was a vintagae piece that I picked up from an estate sale I went to this past weekend.
I apologize the colours in the last photo are a bit off. I had to use a photo filter and it made the green look yellow. The larger beads are a lime green.
I've been busy creating some new treasures for Jewels on the Credit this weekend. I will be at 42 Port St. at the Port Credit Emporium Sat Dec 8th 10-6 and Sun Dec 9th 12-5 in Mississauga.
So when I picked up this Dorothy Perkins dress I thought it was missing a little somethin' somethin' so I went ahead and made this necklace with the dress in mind.
You like??? It even goes with this dress! : )
I haven't got the Blue Jewel listed in my Etsy store yet but it will be soon for... $149. If you're interested let me know.
I love how the crystals change colour in the light. It is going to be hard to part with this piece since I know it'll work with about half of my wardrobe.
Okay so I'm working like a mad woman to get this necklace finished in time for the show tomorrow. I just need to finish the edges which I'll probably do at the show as they need to be hand stitched.
This weekend I'm going to be at the Artisan Studio Tour in Port Credit at 1314 Crossfield Bend or #2 on this map. I will have all of my jewelry pieces with me. So come on out and and say hi.
This is what I'm working on today.... I just started this piece as I picked up a bunch of new crystals yesterday.
